Team Warstic San Diego Goals and Objectives:

πŸ”₯ 1. Build a Strong Practice Culture

  • High Reps, High Intent: Practice like you play. Every rep should mimic game speed and purpose.

  • Small Groups/Stations: Keep kids moving and engaged with focused station work (e.g., hitting, fielding, base running, mental reps).

  • Competition Built In: Turn drills into mini-competitions. It raises focus and simulates pressure.

⚾ 2. Master the Fundamentals

  • Daily Infield/Outfield Work: Emphasize footwork, glove positioning, and throwing accuracy.

  • Repetition with Variation: Use different angles, speeds, and scenarios to challenge fundamentals in dynamic ways.

  • Hitting Routine: Mix tee work, front toss, BP, and machine work. Focus on approach, not just mechanics.

🧠 3. Raise Baseball IQ

  • Situational Awareness: Walk through and scrimmage situations like bunt defense, 1st & 3rd plays, double cuts, etc.

  • Film Review: Use game footage or pro clips to teach decision-making and positioning.

  • Game Talk: Teach your players how to think along with the game β€” talk pitch counts, base running reads, defensive positioning.

πŸ’ͺ 4. Build Athleticism & Durability

  • Agility & Strength Training: Speed ladders, core work, bodyweight training β€” age-appropriate but consistent.

  • Arm Care Program: Long toss, bands, shoulder care β€” protect arms while building strength.

  • Proper Recovery: Teach warm-ups, cool-downs, and hydration habits early.

🧬 5. Mindset & Leadership

  • Mental Toughness Drills: Handle failure, reset routines, pressure reps.

  • Team Standards: Set clear expectations for effort, attitude, and accountability.

  • Player Ownership: Give players leadership roles β€” make them responsible for parts of practice or in-game decisions.

🧭 6. Game Strategy & Exposure

  • Winning: Our goal every time we step in between the white lines is to win! While the goal is development, our focus is to compete with top talent in So Cal.

  • Tournaments: Play teams that challenge your group β€” iron sharpens iron. (Majors & Open Tournaments)

  • Positional Versatility: Teach multiple positions early β€” it builds value and understanding.

  • High School Mindset Early: Start introducing the concept of being a student-athlete. Talk goals, grades, and work ethic.

  • Character - creating high character young men that will pass on the knowledge of the game to the next generation when they get older.
